Hooded Cowl Poncho

So I am a huge sucker for trying out new yarn…especially when it’s super soft and cuddly. I was walking around Joann Fabrics a month ago looking for some of the Bernat Blanket Big yarn that I also love so much. While walking around, I found a grid basket full of this yarn; Bernat Home Bundle.

I just thought it looked cool so bought a couple skeins even though I didn’t have a project picked out for it yet. It is almost like a variegated yarn, however it not only changes colors, but it also changes the type of yarn. I was intrigued to say the least! Looking at the picture below, the white sections are a soft almost “furry” type yarn, the light blue is a homespun yarn, the dark blue is the Bernat Blanket yarn (plush), and the tan is a “Thick and Quick” type yarn.

After much deliberation as to what to make with this wonderfully intriguing yarn, I found a pattern on Pinterest for a hooded cowl poncho. My office building at work is always freezing so this would be perfect to throw on while sitting at my desk!

The cowl neck doubles as a hood

I found the pattern here at SimplyCollectibleCrochet  . It was SO easy to follow and worked up quick. I used four (4) skeins of the Bernat Home Bundle yarn in “Cream Denim Blue” color for this pattern using a size P hook.

I will definitely be making this pattern again for gifts. As for the yarn… I already bought more in the “Cream/Toupe”  and the “Cream Cream colors to make an interesting yet mesmerizing granny square blanket.
